In June 2025, Youth Unity took part in a one-day taster experience with the Tall Ships Youth Trust to get a first look at what sailing and life on board a tall ship is really like. From the moment Shirley, our Managing Director, stepped on board, she felt the warmth, encouragement, and professionalism of the crew and immediately knew this would be a powerful opportunity for the young people that Youth Unity supports.

The taster day gave us the chance to explore the ship, meet the crew, and try out basic sailing tasks in a safe and supportive environment. It quickly became clear that this was not just about sailing, but about building confidence, teamwork, and a sense of belonging.
