Havering Amplify — Project Overview
Havering Amplify · Project Overview

Giving young people in Havering a voice — and making sure it's heard.

Amplify is a youth voice project helping young people across the borough speak up, share how they really feel, and turn their ideas into action — with the people who can change things actually listening.

The project

What Amplify is.

Amplify began as a response to the Havering Youth Wellbeing Census (#BeeWell) — a survey that asked thousands of young people how they really feel about their lives, school and community. The data told us a great deal, but data alone doesn't change anything.

Amplify is the next step: an eight-week wellbeing programme delivered in secondary schools, where young people explore their own school's results, decide what matters most to them, and shape clear recommendations for change — carried to the council, schools and local services.

Our mission

Young people are the experts on their own lives.

Our mission is to give young people a genuine voice — the space, the confidence and the skills to be heard — and to make sure that voice reaches the people who make decisions, and leads to real change.

Not a survey done to young people, but a movement led by them: better wellbeing, decided with the people it affects most.

Youth Unity's involvement

Designed, built and delivered by Youth Unity.

Amplify is commissioned by the London Borough of Havering and delivered end to end by Youth Unity CIC. We don't just run the sessions — we built the programme and everything around it.

Built by us

The framework

Youth Unity designed and implemented the full 8-week wellbeing framework, and delivers it in schools across the borough.

Designed by us

The branding

The Amplify identity — the logo, poster and look used in every school — was created by Youth Unity.

Built by us

The website & content

Youth Unity built and writes the programme website, bringing the data, the voices and the outputs together in one place.

Run by us

Films & podcasting

From filming to recording, Youth Unity produces the creative youth-voice outputs alongside young people.

Led by us

Facilitation

Trained, safeguarding-led facilitators run every session — group-based and youth-led, never 1:1 mentoring.

Held by us

Youth voice & feedback

We record what young people say, share it with partners, and report back to young people on what changed.

A shared framework

Built with Havering Youth Service.

We built this framework hand-in-hand with Havering's Youth Service and wider partners, anchored in the Youth Wellbeing Census. Each school's sessions are tailored to its own census results, and the podcast topics tie into the census framework themes provided by Havering Youth Services.

It means what young people explore in every school reflects what the data actually says about their school — not a one-size-fits-all script.

In the borough's schools

Working hand-in-hand with schools.

Sessions run in groups of around 10–15 young people, delivered alongside school staff and often through existing wellbeing groups. We plan transitions from week 6 so a fresh group is always ready, and feed what young people tell us back three ways: to the school, to local partners and the council, and back to the young people themselves.

How we work

Our approach.

Trauma-informed

Safe by design

Safe, group-based spaces that follow each school's safeguarding procedures, with a trusted adult always on hand.

Youth voice

Led by young people

Young people set the agenda. We capture what they actually say and carry it to the people who can act.

Trusted relationships

Built on trust

Consistent, judgement-free facilitation — because honest conversations only happen where young people feel safe.
