BeWell Youth Engagement Project – Overview
The BeWell Youth Engagement Project is a school-based mental health and wellbeing initiative delivered by Youth Unity. The programme provides early, preventative support for children and young people experiencing emerging emotional or mental health challenges, with a focus on building resilience, confidence, and emotional awareness before difficulties escalate.
What the Programme Delivers
BeWell is designed as an early-intervention offer for pupils identified as low to medium risk. Delivery is trauma-informed, youth-centred, and responsive to individual need. Support is primarily provided through one-to-one sessions, with structured group work introduced where appropriate to strengthen peer learning and confidence.
Delivery to Date – Snapshot
To date, the programme has supported 24 children and young people through targeted early intervention. A total of 99 wellbeing sessions have been delivered, providing over 96 hours of direct contact time. Engagement has been strong, with an overall attendance rate of 87.6% and an average of just over four sessions per participant.
Impact and Engagement
Young people engaged in the programme have demonstrated improved emotional awareness, increased confidence, and greater use of coping strategies. Feedback indicates that the availability of a calm, non-judgemental space and a consistent, trusted practitioner has been central to positive engagement and outcomes.
Safeguarding and Quality Assurance
Delivery is underpinned by robust safeguarding procedures and ongoing case monitoring. The programme supports early identification of risk and ensures that concerns are escalated appropriately through school and external pathways.
