RETHREADED: Empowering Young Women Through Sustainable Fashion

Youth Unity CIC is proud to launch RETHREADED, a powerful, youth-led fashion and upcycling programme designed to inspire, educate, and elevate young women aged 14–19. Delivered in partnership with Havering Youth Services and supported by Park Charitable Trust for Girls, RETHREADED blends creativity, sustainability, enterprise, and confidence-building into a transformative 12-week experience.

Born from the belief that fashion can be a force for empowerment, the project gives girls the space, tools, and guidance to explore their creativity while learning how to challenge the impact of fast fashion. Through hands-on design sessions, branding workshops, content creation, and a community showcase, participants gain real skills, and a platform for their voices to be heard.

Why RETHREADED Matters

Today’s young people care deeply about the environment, but often lack access to programmes that let them explore their creativity sustainably. RETHREADED changes that.
The programme:

  • Empowers young women through creative upcycling

  • Introduces sustainable fashion principles

  • Provides real enterprise and design opportunities

  • Amplifies youth voice through media and content creation

  • Builds confidence, teamwork, and leadership

This isn’t just a fashion project, it’s a pathway for young women to discover their potential.

Powered by Park Charitable Trust for Girls

RETHREADED is made possible through the support of the Park Charitable Trust for Girls, whose mission is grounded in expanding opportunity for those who need it most.

“Following the closure of Park School for Girls in Ilford, Park Charitable Trust for Girls was established to continue the legacy of the school. By launching a grant-funding charity, its mission is to improve access to education for children from disadvantaged backgrounds, with a primary focus on girls. Through this partnership with Youth Unity CIC, we can expand our reach and support even more young girls from disadvantaged backgrounds.”

Their investment helps ensure that creativity, education, and empowerment are accessible not reserved for the privileged few.

A Youth-Led Programme With Real Impact

By the end of the programme, participants will have:

✨ A portfolio of upcycled fashion pieces
✨ A youth-created brand identity for RETHREADED
✨ Increased confidence and practical skills
✨ Experience in storytelling, social media, and digital content
✨ New friendships and a sense of belonging
✨ A platform to share their voice

An impact report will also be published, highlighting skills gained, creative work, and the broader social effect of the programme.

  • TikTok & Instagram (youth-led posts)

  • Youth Unity CIC social platforms

  • Partner channels via Park Charitable Trust for Girls

Expect behind-the-scenes clips, tutorials, interviews, and participant-created design content.

Looking Ahead

RETHREADED is more than a project, it’s a movement that invests in the next generation of young women. Through creativity, sustainability, and empowerment, we’re giving girls the tools to reimagine not just their clothes, but their futures.

Stay tuned for updates, and join us as we celebrate this powerful journey of skill-building, leadership, and self-expression.
